WordPress MU 2.6 beta 1 is now available. WordPress 2.6 is due for release shortly and it’s already on it’s third beta so it’s times for WordPress MU to be updated.
This release has many new features as well as a few security fixes. In his beta 1, beta 2 and beta 3 posts Ryan listed some of the main features, including post revisioning, gears support for faster loading, theme previews, better SSL support and much much more.
WordPress MU specific changes include:
- The version number is being bumped to 2.6 rather than 1.6 because of version confusion. Minor MU versions will probably append a letter to the version.
- Signup page now has a nonce to help defeat spammers.
- Plugins in wp-content/plugins/ are version checked like in WordPress. mu-plugins isn’t covered just yet.
- Major object cache changes.
- And many more bug fixes. Check the timeline for a list of changes.

One of my favorite bands of all time was “the darkness” . The darkness is dead and gone. The lead singer, Justin Hawkins has formed a new band called “Hot Leg”. It’s quite brilliant music of the rock and roll kind.
You can download an MP3 for free from here : http://www.musicglue.com/hotleg
It’s sweet, just do it

I just read this article http://weblogtoolscollection.com/plugin-competition-prizes/ about a new wordpress plugin contest that is worth 3500 dollars USD. I’m a huge fan of Wordpress so this should bring the good coders out of the woodwork.
Here’s the scoop about who has donated money towards the prize.
Plugin Competition Prizes
- Weblog Tools Collection $1000 (p)
- Automattic $1000
- Matt Mullenweg $1000
- James and Andrew from Incsub have offered up $250 for a plugin that is WPMU compatible. They add that WPMU plugins are not that dissimilar to regular plugins, but need to run automatically and efficiently via wp-content/mu-plugins and require users to make no hard code changes (just edits in Settings) and for global administration to be possible via the Site Admin menu.
- Geof F. Morris $100
- WindowsObserver.com Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas for the PC and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
- OIOPublisher Four copies of their advertising plugin
- billyboylindien.com has donated $50 towards prizes (p)
- Blogalized has donated a 12 month blogclub subscription from our site worth $49.95
- John Yunker has donated a copy of “Country Codes of the World” poster to the plugin contest winner (value: $30)
- Clickfire.com has dontated $50 towards the competition prizes (p)

I don’t like to draw lines in the sand when it comes to politics but I made my first political donation in my life last night. I donated to the campain for Barack Obama. I think it’s imperative that Obama pulls out the race card first to get it all on the table before there are any slanderous attacks on him. This post will give you more information about that. http://rightwingnuthouse.com/archives/2008/06/21/obama-drops-pre-emptive-race-bomb/
I’m not going to get into some crazy politics now, I want this blog to be more centered on website design than anything so I’ll just leave it at that.

Last year on this very same day I skated with the Element team in Orange County California. Muska was there, he’s a rock star.
This year I hung out with the homies and skated the local park and had a blast. I like the little park that we have but it’s just not big enough to do anything on except tech tricks. I’m not a tech skater really, I’d rather go really fast around a bowl than do a kickflip. That’s just me though.
Skate jam soon, the invasion is coming!

I’m settling in well on the East Coast. I’m taking on a bunch of new web design projects in NY and Wash DC as well as some back in California. I’m stoked that I’m freelancing now, it gives me a little more flexibility to do what I need to do in order to keep my life in order
That’s it for now. You might want to check out my old project http://www.olliemag.com , it’s been redesigned and updated.

I have very simple plans for my birthday. Hang out with my family during the day and go skate in the afternoon. That’s it. Can’t WAIT. Oh ya and eat some cake!
If all goes well I’m going to the park below…Binghamton NY. That’s me doing an ollie a few years ago.
